Distinguished from commercial accounting applications, the Sage MIP Fund Accounting table-driven
chart of accounts is robust and flexible, and is designed to handle
high transaction volumes and complex accounting configurations. The
chart of accounts may be customized to fit the unique recording and
reporting needs of virtually any nonprofit organization.
Technology
Sage MIP Fund Accounting
takes advantage of Microsoft technology—making it easy for an
organization to manage its data. Microsoft MSDE database technology is
used by Sage MIP Fund Accounting to perform transaction posting, report writing and database management with speed and reliability.
Combined with the Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP operating system, Sage MIP Fund Accounting
offers unsurpassed stability and security. There are several
opportunities using current technology whereby users can securely and
effectively connect to an organization’s database via the Internet
using only a Web browser.
Reporting
Created specifically for nonprofit and government organizations, the Sage MIP Fund Accounting
system includes a wide variety of pre-formatted reports, including the
audit-ready FASB and GASB financial and accounting reports. These
reports are certainly customizable to the various detail level
reporting requirements of the multiple constituents, including funding
sources, auditors, executive directors, program managers and board
members. Governmental entities have specific social and legal
responsibilities as indicated by the Governmental Accounting Standards
Board (GASB) Statement Numbers 34 & 35. This includes special
reporting requisites that are often beyond the capability of commercial
accounting systems.
Sage MIP Fund Accounting
and Sage Software's FASGov Fixed Assets, helps governmental agencies by
providing reporting capabilities that address specific GASB
requirements including:
- Statement of Activities
- Statement of Cash Flows
- Statement of Net Assets
- Budget Reporting
- Statement of Revenues, Expenses and Changes in Fund Net Assets
- Net Assets including Infrastructure Reporting
An unlimited number of financial
statement formats can be created and previewed onscreen to ensure
accuracy, then saved for future use.
Transaction Entry
With Sage MIP Fund Accounting ,
transaction entry is simple and efficient. The use of special function
keys, distribution codes and automatic offset entries are just a few
clicks away. Using the distribution code option, with just a few
keystrokes or mouse clicks, users automatically distribute amounts to
user-defined account code combinations and line items based on your own
pre-set dollars, percentages and units.
With another keystroke or mouse click,
the Automatic Offset feature balances transactions and completes the
entry simply and efficiently.
The Memorize Document and Recall
Document features allow the user to instantly memorize and recall
frequently entered transactions. These shortcuts are perfect for
accrual entries, or other entries of a recurring nature.
The Account Combination Edit feature
allows the user to specify both valid and invalid account code
combinations, ensuring that transactions are recorded correctly. System
warnings notify the user of improper combinations for transaction
entries, and those entries must be corrected prior to saving.
Sage MIP Fund Accounting
includes additional powerful features typically necessary in nonprofit
accounting software, such as automatic allocation of expenses across
several projects or accounting codes, and tracking of restricted or
unrestricted funds for projects or funding sources.
The software allows posting of
transactions to the general ledger in real-time or batch mode, and has
excellent built-in edits that will preclude a transaction from being
saved unless it meets the critical internal edits of the system.

Fully Integrated System
Sage MIP Fund Accounting
is a fully integrated system that uses the General Ledger as its hub.
The various modules or spokes of that wheel all may be purchased
separately, and are easily added at any time. The modules available
other than general ledger are:

modules that may easily be added at a later date.
The Sage MIP company also maintains
third-party relationships with a variety of other software companies
that often companion with Sage MIP Fund Accounting, including various
donor management programs, membership management, school
administration, utility billing, etc. As a result of this
structure, Sage MIP Fund Accounting allows you to benefit from the
'best' product in any particular area of business within your
organization.
In addition, Sage MIP Fund Accounting
has a trade-in policy that makes it possible to trade up simply by
paying only the cost difference between the products. Therefore, Sage
will be in a position to continue to meet your needs as you experience
organization change and growth. |
